The restaurant looks beautiful, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. We visited as a family for a birthday celebration, and the service was disorganized from the start. Staff couldn’t remember who ordered what and kept circling the table asking. My chicken paillard turned out to be a salad, even though it wasn’t listed under salads, and they still wanted to charge $35 for a cold, dry chicken salad that was worse than what you’d get at a fast-food place. Drink refills were offered but never delivered, and when we wanted dessert, only some people were given menus while others were ignored. We tried to explain at the beginning how the bill needed to be split, but the staff told us they’d handle it later. At the end, they refused to split the $1,000 check as requested. Meals that were supposed to be comped because they were sent back were still on the bill, even after they told us they’d been removed. For the amount of money you spend here, the service and food quality are extremely disappointing. You can’t rely on the staff to handle the check accurately, and you’ll need to double-check everything yourself. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Located inside the Fairmont ESJ hotel. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; it is the go to place for hotel guests for meals. We have stayed here for 6 nights and ate breakfast here daily. So I will just comment on my breakfast experience of this restaurant. Service was great, especially the egg station chefs and the waiters/waitresses. They were courteous and responsive to our requests. Food variety was a okay. The hot section had 5 items: scrambled egg, potatoe, sausage, bacon and waffle. Pastry section had a variety of breads, from French braguet to whole wheat to rye and etc. Cold section had ham, turkey, salami and a variety of vegetables and fruits. There was also a cereal station with 3 selections. The food remained unchanged during our stay; I became a little bored with it. But it was okay, I never had expectation for fancy breakfast in the US anyway. There were plenty of tables, both in and outdoors; but do plan on waiting around 5-15 minutes if come during peak breakfast time from 9:30-10:00.

The food here is good but nothing special. I don’t think it’s worth the very high prices. Their hot sauce is good, you have to ask for it. It was good vibes, music and scenery is good. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

Breakfast at Caña was included during my stay at the Hotel El San Juan. Prices for the main platters are at $25, juice $12, drip coffee $6. The bagel with smoked salmon was my favorite and the crispy capers were a nice touch. The Mallorca sandwich and the eggs Benedict were decent but the accompanying potatoes had an overly sweet glaze. The tres leches French toast was a novel concept but the tres leches flavor didn’t quite come through especially after the maple syrup was poured.
