(from Google)Top notch service stands out in this Champaign establishment. We had drinks minutes after we were seated, orders were taken shortly after and the food was brought out in record time which, for BBQ, makes sense. They were also quick to refill all drinks without being asked to. The food was excellent, slow cooked brisket and pork and their selection of sauces was extensive. Ethos restaurant was a recommendation from a friend and I can see why. If we lived in the area, I could see coming here regularly.
brisket and salmon were both really really dry and tough and not smoked enough. burnt ends were better but still not smoky enough. and all the meats were room temp which was strange. the portions are quite small so we ordered a second helping of meat (the bbq sandwich order) only to be given no bread…? the sides were the best part, especially the pit beans and coleslaw. sauces were okay, albeit a bit too tangy. service was also slightly off in the sense that we were asked where the 2 remaining individuals in our party were twice more in a span of 30 seconds although we answered clearly the first time & said individuals were literally walking through the front doors as we spoke. wouldn’t go again
A nice BBQ place in town. They have a quite a selection of meat you can try. The burnt ends are very good! You can order drinks here as well. They have cocktails, beer you can try. The atmosphere is very nice. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.
Stopped into Black Dog and went with the sampler—great way to try a little bit of everything. The sausage and turkey really stood out, both packed with flavor and cooked just right. The brisket and ribs were also very good—tender, smoky, and exactly what you want from a solid BBQ spot. The cornbread had a lot going on—interesting, just not totally my style. The smoked sweet potato tasted more like a baked sweet potato than I expected; I was hoping for a bit more of that smoky flavor. Overall though, really good experience. Great food, solid portions, and a nice beer selection to go with it. Cool atmosphere too. I’ll definitely be back.
