(from Google)Very cool single lane , one way driving adventure! I saw at least 3 dozen gators, barely trying to look for them. Also plenty of birds, turtles and great scenery. It will take you about an hour, depending on how much you stop, look at the wildlife and take photos. The price is right, it is free of charge!
What an experience! About an hour scenic drive through Florida's natural habitat. The most beautiful sites to see as you drive through this florida wild life. You want to see native florida brids and alligators and landmarks this is the place to go. The scenic view is amazing 👏 You will be glad you did. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience ✨️
Free wildlife drive is a must see....donations accepted. Plan for several hours to drive through a nature preserve. I would NOT recommend bringing a pet. Alligators were at roads edge, basking. Could hear them growling. Plenty of birds to see as well..beautiful marsh lands with vegetation. Use restroom before entrances and pack water or snacks. People do bike and and walk and my opinion they are nuts. But, it sure is beautiful to see the animals in their natural setting. Must see.
A phenomenal place to visit, chilled and relaxed, enjoyable and taking in some local wildlife. Its easy to forget there is a lot more to see than just the alligators! Really nice to see some turtles, and of course the birds of prey. It took us around 3.5 hours on a slightly overcast day, which suited us with a light breeze. Unfortunately there were queues, this was due to the same family throughout who thought it was OK to frequently stop on a single track and get out of the car for 5 minutes every quarter of a mile. I think we got around 3 miles in until someone got out of the car a 'kicked off'. There are plenty of stops around to pull over allowing other cars to pass as well as a few portable restrooms on the way. There are no refreshment cafes etc, so pack some water and food if required. Overall a wonderful 11 mile drive with tons to see. Highly recommended
We visited on a Sunday around 12–2pm. The weather was overcast, windy, and in the upper 60s. It was moderately busy at times, with cars ahead and behind us, but as you get deeper into the drive the traffic spreads out and you’re able to enjoy it at your own pace. If you haven’t visited before, there may be a short line at the entrance to grab a pamphlet about the drive. If you have been before and don’t need one, you can bypass that line and go straight through the entrance and right onto the drive. Since it’s January, we saw a lot of ducks that have migrated south for the winter. We saw a ton of alligators, both in the water and out sunning themselves, including some very large ones. The entire 11 mile scenic drive is absolutely beautiful and feels peaceful and immersive. The drive is very well maintained, and the audio tour checkpoints along the way are informative and add a lot to the experience. There are also restroom options (outhouses) along the route, with one near the beginning and a couple more throughout the drive. Overall, this is a fantastic, scenic wildlife drive and a must do if you’re in the area!
