(from Google)Great experience! As Puerto Ricans visiting our own island, we loved this cozy spot. Dining outside was a pleasure—the patio is well-ventilated, spacious, and perfectly illuminated for a relaxed environment, with great table separation for privacy. They also offer private rooms for more intimate occasions. For our party of five, we started with the grilled octopus, which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The codfish croquettes were savory; the first bite reminded me of an alcapurria de viandas (roots). However, I did miss the traditional creamy texture of a spanish croquette and wished the cod fish had a bit more prominence. The wine list is great, though options for half-bottles or glasses are a bit limited. For the main courses, the meats were beautifully cooked and seasoned. The fish was well-seasoned, and though it was slightly overcooked, it was still enjoyable. I’m not usually a rice person, but I have to say the mamposteao rice was delicious and packed with flavor. The plantain and breadfruit tostones were crispy and not greasy at all—perfect for dipping in the famous mayoketchup or the saffron and pimentón mayo used to garnish the plates. One critique: incorporating more fresh vegetables into the dishes could easily elevate them to the next level. One thing we didn’t care for was the strong smell of industrial cleaner at the entrance. A cozy, well-decorated place like this would benefit so much more from natural floral scents that transport guests back to their abuela’s house. We concluded the evening with three different desserts, with the rich and delightful coffee flan being the unanimous favorite. Overall, a solid B+ experience. We will certainly be returning!
It was pretty good! Vegetarian entree selection is minimal (pasta or salad). Snapper and salmon were tasty. Attentive staff and nice outdoor dining area.
Everything from the ambience in the terrace with the big tree and creeper on the walls was beautiful and relaxing. The service was excellent. The wait staff were so thoughtful and kind. One of them noticed that the sun was in my face and helped us rearrange the seats. Angel, one of the wait staff and bartender, made the most amazing coconut mojito, so refreshing with fresh coconut water. He was very friendly and gave us recommendations for places to visit in the neighbouring beach town we were going to visit. The food was one of the best we had in Puerto Rico. Tender skirt steak with nice chimichurri and pulpo fritters were to die for! The octopus was so succulent ! Definitely would come here again next time we pass through Ponce!
Great mocktails, atmosphere was relaxed, food was ok however they served us rice & beans with ham. It would have been better to tell us that beans have meat as well before hand when we were asking the server. They replaced it however it still had ham pieces. This was disappointing.
We got there right in between lunch and dinner rush, so for a moment it was just us. The servers were very kind, Jessica especially was so sweet! We had the Bacalaitos as an app and it was so perfect 😭💕 everything was so delicious, thank you all for making our honeymoon so special 💙
