(from Google)Sadly, the fishermen and strays have turned it into a garbage dump. The animal trails have scat, the human trails and fishing spots are lined with hu.an garbage, fishing lines, bait containers, beer cans, bottles. Pack it in AND PACK IT OUT. Is old news !!
Beautiful nature preserve for hiking and possible birdwatching. The hike is often shaded, which is wonderful. I didn’t see many birds, but it has the potential of being a great birdwatching location. I did see a couple of gators!
A small preserve off the beaten path. We enjoyed the scenery and the trails appeared nicely kept. On the Northeast side of the preserve sits a bench that has proper shade and overlooks the water. It's a must to see. The wildlife is present, just depends on what time you visit. As with any SWFL preserve, be prepared for the bugs. When we arrived the rain moved in which quickly dissipated... plenty of forest tree shelter is available as well.
This park is beautiful but has some down sides. There are no facilities and the parking lot was pretty rough. The posted map is weather worn and doesn’t have mileage. The lap around the lake was about a mile and a half. The trail was pretty flat sand and grass. My elderly father thought it was a little uneven but I was fine. There was quite a bit of garbage laying around. I would be interested in going back to explore further but my dad wouldn’t be wild about returning to this one.
Awesome trail! Easy free parking right onsite. So many different water views made this such an enjoyable hike for me! I saw an alligator, rabbit, deer, birds, and a funny bird that hopped away! Will definitely be back!
