(from Google)Good for killing 30-60 min of 1st visit. I have a large breed dog, and I always let him hop into any fresh/non stag water if taking into a trail. (I also carry water and he gets 1st dibs.). Anyway, a few decent rains lately. Had some time to kill and took him here. Drew on the map the portion of the creek we were near, and then the approx walk in the woods. “X” marks 1) HOSE SPIGOT at the basketball court. I soaked him at the end for a solid cool down. Great shade options, but good safety measure. It was low 80’s afternoon when I went. 2) the two “X” marks toward the center are spots it was easy for him to frolic a bit in flowing, and accessible creek water (some spots are stagnant, and a lot of it is too steep a drop to the creek for me to let him jump down. He’s 107lbs. And 3) The entrance and parking lot are at that playground there, which also has a dual waterfountain (human and dog.). The path I went, going past the old, crumbling concrete structure after a 3-4’ “hop” over a puddle- Don’t think many do that. There a path for a short bit after the soggy-hop, but be ready to be covered in stickers from seeded branches. None of these are big problems. Just FYI’s, and I’m a bit sad at the lack of dog parks/off leash dog places in the Riverview area, so giving more info on this little wooded area for those with dogs, trying to decide. I think my kid would love the place for at least 1 visit because plenty of open portions to the wooded path, with some hills which are rare where we come from in Tampa. Small BMX and he’s 7 but feral, and craves speed. :) The hills are the playground the same - So fun “zoom” options if you have a younger kid finding/pushing his/her limits on their bike at every opportunity. Although I’m not 100% sure it allowed… Guess I’ll find out when I go with him sometime. Dogs and younger kids would give it 5 stars for one visit ❤️
Nice little community park, with quite a bit of field space. The location in a little valley is interesting and the creek is a beauty. The facilities are a bit rundown and the bathrooms kinda gross.
This park is actually pretty cool! I've noticed that many of the review pics people have posted do not include the "secret spot." There is a side path that you can take that leads through the woods and to an old, dilapidated shack. My pup loves to explore!
I was looking for a local park to take my kids out to play and maybe hit some trails. I looked up local parks with in my area. This park seemed like a good place to go. To get to the park you have to drive thru a neighborhood. I thought I made the wrong turn. We arrived at the park and the first thing you see is a covered picnic area. One thing was that the playground was closed. We were a little disappointed. The playground was not covered and was directly in the sun. There was a small trail that took you to an open area where there was a kick ball field and basketball courts. There is very little shade. It was clean and has several spots were you can get water. I’m not sure if I will be back but it looks like a great place to have a field day. It reminded me of the old school playgrounds. I guess it would be a nice place to have neighborhood events.
Took my kids here to get out of the house during the pandemic. It's close to our house so figured we'd check it out. Parking lot is small but it wasn't packed so it was fine. I was surprised to see 2 food trucks there and was also curious but already had dinner prepped at home. The bathroom and picnic table area looked pretty old and neglected. The bathroom doors had chains and locks on them so make sure you use the bathroom before you go. My daughter enjoyed the playground but overall I was a bit confused by the layout of this park. I'm always scoping out new places to run and this park was a no-go. There's just not enough paved trail to run at all if you want to get some miles in. I did notice a trail that went into the woods but the entrance looked like something off of Friday the 13th so we didn't even attempt. The park had pretty spots like the creeks and bridge but it could definitely use some updates.
