Tweetsie Trail Trailhead

Nice trail with mostly gravel surface and surprisingly varied scenery, even within the first mile. There are shaded sections with glistening rock walls, wooded areas, stretches that feel like you’re walking above a neighborhood, and a bridge over the freeway/highway that felt sturdy, caged, and safe, unlike some bridges I’ve walked on in Greenville. My only real complaint is that some dog owners apparently don’t pick up after their dogs. Watch your step. Other than that, it’s a very pleasant trail and worth checking out.

Great place to go for a walk, bike ride, or run. I don't believe you'd want to skate as there are some areas of gravel. It is relatively flat, and the trails run a long way with a mixture of shade and sun. There are a few benches along the way to sit and rest at as well. I believe there are three (or more) different parking areas for this trail throughout Johnson City. If you park at the main entrance, it tends to get busier on weekends, but you can usually snag one of the 20-ish parking spots- if not, you can find parking on the street next to it. There used to be a porta-potty at this entrance but it's no longer there. There is a sign posted that there is a restroom located elsewhere. There is also an electric bike rental shop next door.

Although I haven’t lived in the area in 25 years, I visit family here often and was surprised to just now find this fantastic spot for enjoying the outdoors in one of my favorite towns. Easily accessible trail for all different types of exercise. Suitable for bikes, walkers, runners, and strollers. There was even an air pump for bicycle tires at the trail head. Road crossings were well marked to make it safer for all. Benches along the trail and mile markers every .2 miles as well. Added bonus, you may see a train - which is always fun for every age!

This is a gorgeous trail to ride your bike in, walk in or go for a run. We are visitors and traveled here with our bikes. This is a beautiful trail. We stopped along the way to take pictures and to enjoy the scenery. Highly recommend!’

Love the trail. Easy to walk and ride bicycles, the views are beautiful until you get to Elizabethton, and it stops being fun. The only good thing is that you have plenty of places to get something to eat or drink and use the bathroom at one of the grocery stores. In the Johnsons city side, there is a side bridge that will take you to Daddy Mac Depot, which is a delicious BBQ place with a really nice outdoor seating looking out to the river. Along the Johnson city side, you will see horses, cows, and beautiful farm life. Lots of trees and views of the mountains and pastures.
