A reasonably large network of interconnected trails with varying levels of elevation gain to suit beginners as well as intermediate hikers. The Google maps to Corona de Loma trailhead routes to a place in a residential area where it is possibly to park by the side of the road and get onto the trail system. The actual Corona de Loma trail is maybe about a half mile or so walk from the parking spot. There is a map at that entry point which would be a good idea to photograph because there are very few trail markings and directions once you enter the trail system. There are paths on either side which can be added on to get some elevation gain. Be careful to stay on the map because it is easy at some points to go on what look like trails ( perhaps were maintained trails in the past) but are no longer well maintained. Lots of bikers in the system, but all quite courteous to hikers in our experience. Overall a pretty good experience for hiking on a nice day (note that there is no water or facilities at trailhead) and probably a good place to go once for the experience. There is absolutely no shade in the entire area so must plan accordingly. Not a place for hot day! So if driving for a while to get to a trailhead there are probably many better hiking spots in the general Phoenix area.

I love riding my mountain bike here and starting from this point trail is super fun either on a bike or hiking through. Definitely safe with a lot of other hikers around and pet friendly but bring a poop bag, please!

Good trail, easy access, great views. There were a LOT of mountain bikers so you do need to adjust hiking frequently but overall pretty nice hike

Great place to start your hike or mountain bike on South Mountain. Trails for everyone from the beginner who want to hike flatter trails to the more experience that likes to climb vertically challenging peaks. This will be a favorite spot to take friends and family to when we are in Phoenix.

Great trail that ties into lots of other trail options. I started with the Warpaint loop, which is not too tough and reasonably well maintained. On the way back, I took the Sidewinder loop back. That was a little more rigorous, especially near the top of the mountain, but the views were pretty good from up there. No services at the trailhead, so come prepared for that.
