Heartbreaking loss of mobility after prescribed medication ​I want to start by saying the staff here are extremely kind and caring. As a customer, I felt supported, and the team earns 5 stars for their bedside manner. However, I am writing this with a heavy heart to warn other pet owners about a devastating medical outcome. ​I brought my senior dog in for an infection. She was prescribed antibiotics for the infection and Gabapentin for joint pain. Before this visit, my dog had a normal quality of life for a senior; she was already on joint injections and did not need assistance standing up. The Gabapentin was suggested to "improve" her quality of life, but it did the exact opposite. ​ Timeline: ​Immediate reaction: After the very first dose, she developed severe ataxia (loss of balance/wobbly gait). I reported this to the clinic, but was told it was a "completely normal" side effect. ​The Result: After only two days on the medication, she completely lost the ability to stand or walk on her own. ​Permanent Damage: We suspended the pills, and while she recovered slightly, her coordination is permanently damaged. She falls constantly and requires physical assistance to stand—something she never needed before. A 30-minute walk has been reduced to a 10-minute struggle. ​The infection is gone, but so is her quality of life. My dog's final years are now a sentence of disability. I trusted this clinic, and I feel immense guilt for not researching the side effects myself, but I relied on their professional judgment. ​Please be extremely cautious and ask every possible question before accepting Gabapentin. It has changed my dog’s life forever, and for the worst.

I cannot recommend Sugar Land Veterinary Clinic enough! The entire team is incredibly caring and compassionate. Dr. A. took the time to explain everything thoroughly during our visit, and I never felt rushed. They truly treat your pets like their own. Thank you for the excellent care!

I absolutely love this place. The staff was amazing. Dr. A was super nice and helpful. Super thorough with all of the information. I appreciate that they treated my staffordshire with respect and wasn’t scared of her. It was the first vet that actually took care of her and didn’t just hand me meds and say you do it. I recommend this place 100 percent. Lala and her parents appreciate you guys.

Sugar Land Veterinary’s staff is exceptional. They got us in quick and seamlessly with skillful care and sincere compassion from start to finish. Dr. A is a no nonsense doctor. She’s competent, thorough, and trustworthy. She listened, investigated, was informative, down to earth, and followed the visit all the way through to check-out. There’s no one else I will be taking my pets’ to.

New to the area, I picked Sugar Land Veterinary Clinic based off location and google reviews, glad I did. Dr. A and her staff were exceptional. Bria lead tech was kind, thorough, and treated my cat with the upmost care. Yolanda their receptionist delivered the best customer service. Dr.A, I don’t know what else to say other than she’s an outstanding veterinarian. Very satisfied & happy client here!
