(from Google)Best paved biking trail to see the coast, beaches and even wooded trails. Bike thru the Talbot Islands up to Amelia Island. Best scenic bike ride so far!
We loved this trail! We started on the side near the bridge. If you do this, go under the bridge to cross the road. It was nice riding where we could see the ocean. Lots of picnic tables along the way, if you want to pack a lunch or snack.
Therapeutic walk through trees, nature and flowers. Great exercise, shaded trails and worth exploring the many areas, water scenery and trees changing colors in 🍁🍂 in the fall.
Beautiful walking trails. It has a little bit of everything - beach views, dunes, and green space. The trail is well maintained and we saw some lovely wildflowers. If you bring a pet or littles, you will need to be mindful of the grass in some areas as there were several areas with thorns and cactus. There was a slight elevation in some areas but overall, lovely walk!
Timucuan Trail Trailhead is an awesome (and free!) spot to park if you’re planning to bike the area. There’s a handy little underpass that takes you safely under the highway and connects you directly to the bike trail—super convenient. The trail itself is a smooth, paved path that runs for about 8 miles, and it’s a really pleasant ride with great scenery. Around mile 8, you’ll hit a wooden bridge. After that, if you keep going, you’ll cross another bridge and rejoin the bike path. Just a heads-up—there are a few stops and yield signs in that section, so the pace slows a bit. Alternatively, if you stick to the road after the second bridge, it’s actually a nice ride too. There’s plenty of space, and the local drivers are very respectful of cyclists. From there, you can go about 9 more miles into downtown Fernandina Beach or take a 6-mile route to Amelia City. All in all, it’s a great starting point for a longer ride or a casual cruise—definitely worth checking out if you’re biking in the area.
