(from Google)This preserve is fairly new and needs time to develop. The former golf course closed in 2022, and it looks pretty rough now. Volunteer groups are slowly trying to transform it. Walking/biking trails are decent, but there isn’t much to please the eyes along the way. Much of it has gone to scrub. It is surrounded by private condo associations.
Prescott Preserve isn’t just a park — it’s a statement. A bold, visionary transformation of land into something meaningful, restorative, and genuinely beautiful. What was once a golf course has been reimagined into a thriving desert sanctuary that perfectly balances preservation, accessibility, and purpose. The trails are peaceful, well-designed, and easy to enjoy whether you’re out for a morning walk, an evening sunset stroll, or just a quiet escape from the city’s pace. The natural landscaping, water features, and emerging habitats create a calm, immersive experience that feels intentional — not manufactured. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down without trying. What truly elevates Prescott Preserve is the long-term vision behind it. This isn’t a “finished project,” it’s a living ecosystem in progress — with native plant restoration, wildlife support, and community education clearly at the core. It reflects thoughtful planning, respect for the land, and a future-focused commitment to sustainability that most developments only talk about. Prescott Preserve delivers something rare: serenity, purpose, and authenticity in one space. It’s not just a nice place to walk — it’s a place that matters. A true asset to Palm Springs and a model for what modern land stewardship should look like.
Beautiful preserve, so happy to hike around the preserve every time I visit Palm Springs. A birder’s paradise.
Good birding and walking area. A former golf course abandoned several years ago and turned into a nature reserve by the Oswit Land Trust. Easy to overlook. Enter on the east side of El Cielo Rd. at E. Mesquite Ave. Step over a low chain at the small signs pictured here. No wheels allowed. Google Maps gives a misleading location indicator as of March 3, 2024.
The Prescott Preserve is a stunning example of local land conservation. Oswit Land Trust is creating a beautiful nature preserve for wildlife and all members of the Coachella Valley community to enjoy. I love bicycling through the nature preserve! I love seeing the wildlife from a distance and knowing that they are safe.
