(from Google)I had a great experience with the rental kayak. The water was easy to navigate, and we observed plenty of wildlife. The rental prices were very reasonable.
Small yet beautiful nature park on the confluence of the Flint and Hillsborough Rivers. There is a wooden boardwalk that will take you through a marsh and then right to the confluence. There is also a public boat ramp.
John B. Sargeant Park is a great spot if you’re looking for a quick nature escape with some light trekking and wildlife spotting. Though it’s a small park, it offers a peaceful and scenic environment that’s perfect for a short outdoor walk or picnic. One of the highlights is the trail that leads through the wetlands—definitely take the bridge on the left once you start walking. That path gives you a better view of the water and trees, and you’ll very likely spot alligators along the way, especially if the weather is warm. It’s exciting and adds a little thrill to the peaceful surroundings. That said, be aware that the park has no visible supervision or rangers, so make sure to be cautious, especially if you’re with kids. Stick to the marked paths and keep an eye out for wildlife. Overall, John B. Sargeant Park is a nice hidden gem for a short outdoor experience. It’s quiet, close to nature, and worth a visit if you’re in the area—but definitely go prepared and stay alert.
The best kayaking experience I’ve ever ever had. We have been twice. There is more wildlife in this area than any other park that I’ve been to. Ton of gators lots of different types of birds, turtles, etc.
What a great place to visit on a rainy day! Taking our time on the shorter trails out to the water and through the woods was delightful! Lots of neat little animals and beautiful Florida scenery. The bathrooms were very clean and well managed and the boat ramp was nice. There also seems to be a longer, paved trail that's about 13 miles, but we weren't quite up to that long of a hike! Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area, or want to kayak/canoe the Hillsborough river!
