Company Mill Trailhead

This is a nice getaway close to Cary. Trails are nicely kept and easy to walk. It does provide great exercise. Have seen deer, coyote and plenty of birds. You can combine loops and make up to 11 mile walk. Nice quiet quick getaway.

Awesome hike! Tons of different trails and the park is really well taken care of. No trash cans for most of the trail so plan accordingly. Bathrooms are near the parking lot.

Beautiful shaded trail through the woods and along Crabtree Creek. Relatively easy, however a few spots with a ton of roots. Tripped quite a few times. 5.8 miles, round trip about 2-2.5 hours. Highly recommend!

Company Mill Trail at Umstead State Park offered a fantastic blend of challenge and natural beauty, making it a memorable hike. The trail keeps things interesting with rolling hills, sections of moderate elevation gain, and diverse terrain - from smooth paths to rocky sections. The dense forest canopy provides shade and a peaceful escape from the city. You'll encounter plenty of birdsong and diverse plant life. Whether you're looking for a leisurely walk or a more strenuous hike, the trail offers options for different fitness levels. The length (around 6 miles) allows for a good workout without being overwhelming. While the trail crosses some creeks and runs alongside a waterway, there are no waterfalls or major water features. If you're looking for a hike with more aquatic elements, this might not be your top choice. Park early on weekends and holidays to avoid parking congestion.

This was my favorite trail so far! You DO have to watch where you’re going since the whole path is roots and pretty rocks … if you don’t look where you’re going then 100% you’ll fall 😅 it was nice and quiet with few people crossing my path, there’s a few spots where I could sit and enjoy the river as well as deer and Ofcourse beautiful views :) this was 5.8 miles, no signal and it took me almost 3 hours since I took my sweet time enjoying the views.
