(from Google)The road was closed, so we couldn’t reach the famous Cascada La Mina 😢 Instead, we settled for another swimming spot nearby. Upstream, the waterfall current is strong and the water is icy cold ❄️🌊 You’ll have to trek through a muddy trail first 🥾 — but honestly? Totally worth the adventure!
What a beautiful place. The first fall is not too difficult to reach. It has a lovely wading area and plenty of photo spots. We went to the next fall up and that was far more difficult, but worth the effort.
Really beautiful area with limited roadside parking. This is a very popular spot for photos and is a short walk from the road. As a consequence it was very crowded. If it is high on your list you should come here first. It is popular for swimming, but I highly recommend wearing real shoes. A lot of people we saw were struggling in their flip flops to hike up to the 3rd pool. Plus there is cliff side you have to walk next to, so being stable is important.
We were disappointed when our tour was not able to be rescheduled. But we're surprised when we were able to go on our own tour to this place. We enjoyed the waterfalls and were very happy to see that some of the other tour participants were disappointed that the guide did not provide what they said they would. On anothwr point, do not use viator for any tours. They are worthless as a tour provider. They play a middleman role with no real power to hold tour companies accountable for not providing services their website boasts.
Even in December the water was actually pretty warm and you can stand under the most powerful shower you've ever been in. The foliage and everything around is absolutely gorgeous
